Kitchens

Kitchens are so often the heart of the home. Our kitchen designs and kitchen remodels have created hundreds of happy clients. Whether building new or remodeling in Ames or central Iowa, Iowa Home Crafters offers timeless design and durability that add value to your home.

Striking Remodel of a Mid-Century Modern Kitchen

Our clients wanted to enhance their newly purchased mid-century home. The original kitchen, closed off on several sides, caused congestion at the entry. We opened the floor plan to let in more natural light. Custom rift-sawn walnut pieces, with clean lines and a warm stain, were added. We preserved the original wood floors and integrated new hardwood where the kitchen was. This improved traffic flow and highlighted the mid-century design, complemented by the owner’s retro furniture.

A Sleek and Contemporary Remodel in Ames

This kitchen boasts an open design with a prominent central island, offering ample seating and a spacious work surface. The stylish pendant lights provide warm illumination, perfectly reflecting the owner’s personal taste. Warm wood and a backsplash of blue and gray tiles enhances the back wall, adding texture and extending the room’s color scheme. The previous kitchen cabinets were repurposed in the addition of a large pantry.  Overall, this kitchen radiates a cozy and contemporary vibe, seamlessly blending natural and modern materials.

Spacious Boone Kitchen Revamp with Lots of Functional Accessories

The homeowner desired a more open space with clean lines and plenty of organization. The cabinetry was crafted to complement a stunning quarter-sawn oak dining table owned by the homeowners, and feature a blend of traditional craftsman style with modern amenities. The design subtly incorporates curves and radii to balance the straight lines and sharp corners typical of an arts and crafts cabinet. Effective organization and storage solutions were crucial to optimizing the available space for the cabinetry.

Custom Craftsman Kitchen with Modern Features

This spacious kitchen now offers views of the west side of the property and has a new garage entry. The existing brick between the kitchen and sunroom remains to define the space. Custom cherry and reclaimed slate create a striking cabinet and countertop/backsplash combination. Salvaged redwood, new maple, and birch trim details are accented with the owner’s tile collection and natural limestone.

Streamlined Remodel with Lots of Hidden Features

This transitional kitchen features rift-sawn walnut construction and a modern door design, creating a contemporary yet warm and inviting atmosphere. A spacious appliance garage keeps countertops clutter-free while providing easy access to everyday items. The electronic TV lift system hides the screen when not in use, and undercabinet lighting enhances the warm, radiant glow of the quartzite countertops and backsplash. Large drawers, clever organizers, and rollouts in the pantry cabinet make cooking efficient by keeping everything within reach. Additionally, a drop zone cabinet area connects the entryway and kitchen, with a magnetic board to keep mail and to-do lists organized.

Sustainable Elements Highlighted in an Ames Kitchen

Originally a small galley kitchen with just a single window, this space has been transformed to offer over 30 feet of stunning backyard views. The kitchen remodel and addition were designed to flood the area with natural light while maintaining a healthy home environment. We used sustainable materials throughout, including custom cabinetry made from locally sourced Ash, cork flooring, and PaperStone countertops. Additionally, we crafted a unique dining room table and benches, milled and processed here at Iowa Home Crafters.

A Boone Kitchen with Charming Functionality

The hallmark of this open kitchen lies in its clean lines and charming craftsman style. It is thoughtfully designed with an abundance of custom built-ins and shelving, ensuring that there is a designated spot for every item, maintaining a clutter-free environment. The integration of these features promotes organization and functionality, making it easy to keep everything in its place.

Adding to the kitchen’s efficiency is a spacious and well-designed butler’s pantry. This pantry significantly enhances the kitchen’s overall performance by providing additional storage and workspace. It is perfect for meal preparation and storage, keeping the main kitchen area free from unnecessary congestion and maintaining its sleek and orderly appearance.
